About Luiten

In 1933, Theo Luiten opened his butcher shop in The Hague. Three generations later, Luiten has grown into an expert in developing and producing successful, distinctive concepts. Luiten is a family-owned business with a passion for producing artisanal meat products. Their production process respects the methods of a traditional butcher shop but is designed for large volumes and is fully certified.

Flavor, quality, and innovation have been the core principles of Luiten since its founding in 1933. “The Value of Taste!” is based on these principles. Luiten has since grown into a specialist in successful, distinctive food concepts and supplies both Dutch and international customers. They are experts in developing and producing grilled meats, spreadables, and beef sausages.

Some facts about Luiten

In 1933, Theo Luiten opened an artisanal butcher shop in The Hague, where he began cooking ham and roasting veal and roast beef in the 1950s. This marked the beginning of the current production company for fresh meat products

On January 2, 1961, his son Jan took over the shop, and in January 1973, he also took over the small production company. He expanded the assortment to include the then-unknown Filet Américain.

In 1997 verhuist het bedrijf naar Zoetermeer om verder te kunnen groeien.

Since 2015, Luiten has closely collaborated with three Michelin-star chef Jacob Jan Boerma. Jacob Jan has taught them to handle the concept of “taste” even better. By incorporating his vision on taste into their product development and the application of their products, the products have gained a stronger position.
